Murder of the Italian ambassador: Rwandan and Congolese armed forces pointed at.

The news of the murder of the Italian ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Congo, Luca Attanacio, continues to stir the news in the DRC. Congolese authorities have promised investigations to track down the perpetrators. From this point of view, things seem to be progressing quite quickly, since during this afternoon, in a statement relayed by local media, the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of Interior and Security, blamed the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR), Rwandan Hutu rebel group known as FDLR, for the attack
“A convoy of the World Food Programme (WFP) was the victim of an armed attack by elements of the Democratic Forces for the Liberation of Rwanda (FDLR), on the road to Rutshuru, Kibumba grouping, in Nyiragongo territory,“ the statement said.
The interior ministry said the provincial authorities of North Kivu were not aware of the presence of the Italian ambassador, which did not allow them to provide him with security measures.
Congo’s President Felix Tshisekedi gave his sincere condolences to the families of the victims and has called for an investigation so that the perpetrators can be brought to justice, according to the president’s office.
The FDLR were quick to react and blamed the Rwandan and Congolese armed forces positioned a few kilometers from the scene of the murder.
“The FDLR declare that they are in no way involved in the attack that resulted in the death of the Italian ambassador and ask the Congolese authorities and MONUSCO to shed light on the responsibilities of this despicable assassination. According to corroborating sources, the convoy was attacked in an area known as the “three antennae” near Goma on the border with Rwanda not far from a position of the FARDC and the Rwandan military of the Rwandan Defense Forces. The responsibility for this despicable assassination lies with the ranks of these two armies and their sponsors, who have forged an unnatural alliance to perpetuate the pillaging of eastern DRC. »
