It was on the morning of this Thursday, September 8, 2022 that the news became official, now the Congolese singer Cor Akim joins the club of rare artists certified on social networks in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The Congolese singer, originally from the city of Bukavu, Cor Akim made headlines on the internet this Thursday, September 8, 2022 following his certification on Instagram. It all started with a publication on these social accounts, from the city of Nairobi in Kenya where he has been based since the beginning of 2019, so that the buzz is created on different social networks.

On Instagram, his account on this date, with 151 publications, culminates more than 47,900 (47.9k) subscribers, a number which places him among the most followed personalities of the Great Lakes region on the internet. And with the certification since the morning, he joins the club of rare Congolese musician artists, in the country as well as in the diaspora, certified on social networks.

But why certification?

Generally speaking, certifying an account prevents identity theft. This is why accounts (profiles or pages) certified on any social network, especially on Instagram, are exclusive to celebrities, public figures or global brands.

A simple blue badge next to your profile name, like the one on singer Cor Akim’s Instagram profile, can make a big difference in determining if an account is genuine and legit.

Note that, according to the latest statistics from the Sproud Social site, less than 1.5% of active accounts on Instagram are certified, and 45.03% of these accounts already have more than one million subscribers on the Meta platform, known initially for sharing images since 2007.
